Digital X-ray

Digital X-ray has become an integral part of the repertoire of modern dental examination methods. It makes it possible to visualize tooth and bone structures that otherwise could not be examined by the dentist. Digital X-ray is an imaging method in which, in contrast to conventional analog X-ray film, either a special digital memory plate or a digital sensor is exposed. Digital X-ray is a modern method that has several advantages over conventional X-rays.
The images usually have a better quality than normal X-rays.
They can be edited directly on the computer and you can thus correct overexposed or underexposed shots and thus have to repeat fewer shots.
Digital X-ray thus saves time. The main advantage, however, is the lower radiation exposure, which is usually only 10% of the conventional radiation exposure.
The method is also more environmentally friendly because a digital X-ray image does not have to be developed. This means that the usual chemicals are no longer needed and do not have to be disposed of.
Digitization allows the X-ray image to be stored digitally without taking up much space.
Furthermore, images taken by digital X-ray can be quickly sent from computer to computer and, if necessary, assessed remotely.
For the patient, digital X-ray also means that he can look at the image directly at the treatment station and have it explained by the dentist.

Bone augmentation

Sinus lift

A special form of bone augmentation is the sinus lift. In the maxillary posterior region, the bone height is often so low that an implant cannot be inserted stably in sufficient length. By storing bone or bone augmentation material in the maxillary sinus floor, it is lifted to such an extent that implants can be securely anchored.

In dentistry, bone augmentation refers to methods with which the bone in the jaw area is filled. The body is stimulated to form its own new bone substance, which grows into the filled material and gradually replaces it.

For the placement of an implant, it is important that sufficient bone substance is present. If this is not the case, bone augmentation is necessary. There are different methods to build the bone. One of the most common methods is the so-called augmentation, a bone graft from another area of one's own body. However, the use of bone substitute material or the method of jawbone spreading are also used in bone augmentation.

Bone attachment

If there is a slight bone deficiency in width, the bone necessary for jawbone augmentation can be obtained during the operation. Also, jawbone substitute material can be used or the amount of attachment can be stretched by mixing bone and substitute material. This area is often protected with membranes (a kind of foil) in such a way that undisturbed healing of the bone can take place. Meanwhile, membranes are usually used for this purpose, which are completely broken down by the body.

Bone spread

If the jaw is too narrow, it is possible to prepare the jawbone for implant insertion by spreading the bone. The bone is split, then the implant is inserted and the remaining cavities are filled with bone or bone substitute material.

Bone Block Transplantation

For bone formation of a clearly too narrow or too low jaw section, a larger piece of bone can be removed from elsewhere and then fixed at the target site. Such a bone block usually has to heal for a few months before it can be safely loaded with implants.

Distraction osteogenesis

This is used for bone that is too low for implantation. Here, the bone is split into an upper and lower part. A special screw fixed to these bone parts allows the upper bone brace to be lifted step by step. Here, the potential of the bone for fracture healing by bone formation is used. The device must be worn in the mouth for a few weeks until the bone reaches the specified height.

Dental jewelry

Dental jewelry

Dental jewelry is the generic term for a variety of dental ornaments, strongly determined by the respective fashion. The dental jewelry includes the so-called Twinkles (brillies), the Dazzlers and grills.

Artificial dental crowns can also be considered as dental jewelry in some cases. In some Eastern European countries, unveneered gold crowns are considered a sign of wealth.

Twinkles (to twinkle - "to flash") or Brillies are dental jewelry with rubies, diamonds or the gemstone imitation rhinestone as a half-relief.

Dazzlers (to dazzle - "blend") consist of an ornate gold foil.

Fortification

Twinkles and Dazzler, similar to brackets in orthodontics, are glued to the tooth with a composite resin with the help of the acid etching technique (roughening of the surface of the enamel by etching with phosphoric acid) (bonding). If properly attached, they can be removed without permanent damage to the teeth

Grills are made individually with the help of an impression and then integrated.

Tongue cleaning

Tongue cleaning

Do you brush your teeth every day?

Of course you will say.

Do you also clean your tongue every day?

If yes, if no, then you should know the following:

The tongue surface with its countless micro-niches, especially in the rear area, offers ideal living conditions for bacteria and microorganisms. This makes it the main cause of bad breath, i.e. bad breath.

What is particularly common, however, is that once the bacteria have settled properly in the tongue niches, they regularly start recolonizing their teeth from there after brushing their teeth. The "bacterial base bearing tongue" thus destroys even the most thorough cleaning efforts.

It is therefore important to deprive the bacteria of this base camp by subjecting the tongue to a thorough cleaning every day in addition to the natural brushing of teeth.

For cleaning the tongue there are special tongue cleaners.

These are available where you buy the toothbrush.

When applying, it is important to stroke with sufficient pressure on the surface of the tongue from as far back as possible over the tongue to the tip of the tongue. For control: When used correctly, some viscous saliva should accumulate on the tongue cleaner.

As additional aids, mouthwash solutions and, if necessary, a special antibacterial toothpaste may also be helpful. This small tool used regularly can contribute significantly to your oral health.

Implant bridges

In addition to the implant crown, the most common dentures are the implant bridge. This is used when several adjacent teeth are missing.

As a rule, several implants are used as the basis for a dental bridge and take over the function of the natural roots. Unlike a removable prosthesis, an implant bridge almost completely restores chewing function. The chewing pressure is not on the gums, but is transferred to the jawbone, similar to a natural tooth. As a result, the bone substance is better preserved in an implant bridge.

In contrast to the removable prosthesis, the bridge is firmly anchored to the implants. The implant bridge is visually hardly distinguishable from natural teeth. One of the main advantages of implant-supported bridges is that healthy adjacent teeth no longer need to be ground to attach a conventional bridge. With an implant bridge, it can be prevented that the jawbone lowers in the area of the gap or forms a hollow and neighboring teeth begin to tip into the gap.

Since an implant bridge ideally closes with the gums, it is also a good choice for aesthetic reasons.
